Weigh-In: Week 3

It's Monday so it's weigh-in time!

Weight lost this week:  2.7 lbs.

Weight lost since starting the AIP elimination diet on 3/1:  9.7 lbs.

Weight lost since my all-time high on 1/1:  13.1 lbs.

I'VE LOST 13 FUCKING POUNDS SO FAR. Seriously!  Woo hoo!!!!

I know this is going to sound super crazy, but having such major restrictions has almost made it EASIER for me to comply.  When I've done Weight Watchers in the past, the point system makes it pretty simple but there are still ways to get around actually eating well.  For example - you could still eat pretty healthy food in very small doses (with 0 or low points) and also eat shitty food in the same day all while staying within your point range. While that's not really how the program is supposed to go, we've all cheated the system.  At the end of the day, you've still lost weight, so it's not difficult.

The problem for ME is that I may think I'm eating pretty well, but evidently, there's something in my diet (that may not be an unhealthy food) that's mucking up my system.  I don't know what it is yet, so eating completely (well, 99%) clean has been uber beneficial.  Once the 30 day period is up, I can start to reintroduce foods.  I'm not sure what I'd like to start with.  I'm not really craving anything...

I track my intake using the MyFitnessPal app.  I love that it breaks it down for you so that you can see not only calories consumed per day, but also fat and carbs.  You can see which foods are highest in each category.   My highest fat/carb items tend to be fruit or avocado - both of which I'm fine with given the servings I'm sticking to.

This is my graph so far today.  I've just eaten lunch (Chick-Fil-A 8-count grilled chicken nuggets and a fruit cup, which are AIP-approved), so it's only a portion of the day.  For dinner, my plan is to have veggie stir-fry with shrimp so the percentages will even back out.

I feel good so far.  Still no H-words or tummy troubles.  It's pretty fantastic.  I'd almost be willing to stick with his strict version for the long haul if I knew it curbed the blinding pain.  Almost.  Maybe.  Hmmm.  I know it's not designed for long-term weight loss/management but still...

While my clothes are certainly fitting more loosely, (my undies in particular!) I don't SEE a huge difference yet otherwise.

You be the judge.

The real test is going to be next week. I'll be traveling to my hometown.  Being good there won't be easy, I know.  If I can stay away from super delicious Mexican food here, surely I can manage in Ohio.  (That's what I'm going to keep telling myself over and over and OVER again!)

Takeaways from this week:

I can do this.
I AM doing this.
I'm proud of myself.
I can't quit.

Until next post...
