I've had several people ask me about this AIP diet that I mentioned yesterday. Here are some key points: (Dammit, I love an excuse to bullet point shit!)
- This is not a forever/lifestyle change situation. This is an elimination diet to see what food may trigger my autoimmune symptoms - hence the goal of 30 days. The idea is to slowly reintroduce certain foods.
- It's a stricter version of the standard paleo diet (AKA the "caveman diet").
- No, I'm not supposed to have coffee since it comes from a bean (a no-no) but I don't really drink it so that's a non-issue. (Side note... I know I'm a freak for being a non-coffee drinker.)
- No, I can't have any dairy. Or eggs. Or nuts.
- No, I can't have chocolate. It comes from a nut. Duh.
- Yes, I can have black or green tea. Yay for me since I drink the hell outta some unsweetened iced black tea.
- YES, I will be grouchy.
I've included some pretty good graphics below of the yes and no items.
I'm happy to report that I've been good for the last 24 hours. Trust me - that's a biggie!
Last night's dinner consisted of spinach, green beans and zucchini sautéed in coconut oil with grilled chicken breast strips. Lots of green action in there.
Breakfast today was a smoothie that consisted of banana, raspberry and coconut milk.
Lunch was leftovers from dinner.
Carrots were the snack choice.
It's super boring but I'm not starving. Not YET, anyway.
On that note - I need to figure out what tonight will bring...
Peace out.
xo
